Moving house

You might have noticed a little lack of action in this space!
Yes, the crowded world of social media has found me spending more time elsewhere.
And so, after quite a few months of sporadic posts I'm taking the plunge to move on permanently from here.

You can keep up with all my latest Frankie & Ray news over on Facebook.

Upcoming market dates can be found under the Upcoming Markets and Events page of my online store.

And, not least, you can get a little peek into all the behind the scenes work in progress and my day to day life on Instagram.

See you over there, and thanks for stopping here along the way!

And another....

Hurrah! It's almost the weekend again, and that means another market for me.
This market is a true community fundraising effort, and has the best food, great hours, lots of things to keep the kids busy and happy, and you can come and enjoy dinner and a wine too.
See you there this Saturday!

Winter Magic Market

Next up!

This weekend you'll find me back in Geelong for this lovely market.
I love the venue for this one, inside an historic old woolstore made modern and light.
I've been on a bit of a quilting spree, so come and see what all those Liberty scraps have become!

Travelling north

Winter has certainly arrived here in the last week or two.
We were lashed by a big storm this week, putting our power out for more than a day.
Funny how you can take electricity for granted.
Thankfully we have a lovely fire, so while we sat in the dim light of candles, and cooked our soup on the bbq, at least we were warm!
Which leads nicely to say how much I'm looking forward to packing a huge amount of stuff into my suitcases for Brisbane Finders Keepers in just over a week.
I'm very excited to be taking Frankie & Ray interstate for the very first time, plus we'll get to stay with friends, and we're adding a couple of days onto the trip for a mini-break up north.
It might just be enough to see me through to Springtime!

Piccadilly comes to town

I'm delighted to be part of Piccadilly Market's very first Melbourne event this coming weekend.
A great list of stallholders, a beautiful historic building for a venue, and a lovely way to spend a Winter afternoon in the city!

Marking time

From the last swim on the very last day of March,

to a quick few days with my lovely Aunt and family north in beautiful Newcastle at the beginning of April.

We returned thinking that Winter might have come early on the coast,

which gave me a nudge to start knitting a chunky woollen jumper to ward off the cold,

and made me want to spend days just hand quilting.

But we got a sensational May instead!
Ready for June? I might be.

Patchwork diversions

At this time of year things start to slow down from the hectic pace of Summer, and my thoughts turn to patchwork.
It informs almost all of my work, and it's like play to fiddle about with different colours and patterns in all those little bits of fabric I accumulate.
My love affair with Instagram has introduced me to some amazing fabric designers and quilters.
What a community it is.
Karen is the woman behind Blueberry Park making beautiful fabrics and quilts. She's been such an inspiration for me, and gave me the little push I needed to try my hand at some patchwok a little more complicated than what I've tried before.

This quilt top is all sewn together and just awaiting a little time to get it together with some backing and wadding before I can settle in for a Winter of hand quilting.
If you look closely you find plenty of fabrics from Melbourne based fabric designer and screen printer Maze & Vale. They've been perfect for this quilt!

Of course, I couldn't resist the siren call of the half square triangle, and I'm loving this versatile little patchwork block.

Resisting the urge to turn this into the beginnings of another quilt, I've turned it into a cushion instead.
And keep an eye out for some in the shop soon, perfect to add a bit of patchwork goodness to your home!

It must be Autumn!

And just like that Summer is over!
Which means I'll be making my first Melbourne market trip for the year this weekend.
I'd love to see you at my most favourite little friendly market in town.

The best weekend of the year

It's almost that time of year again!
If you're thinking a little weekend break might be in order, then it's not too late to grab a ticket.
There's a fantastic line up, and I'm hoping the weather will turn it on for a gorgeous last weekend of the Summer fling.
Come on down and enjoy what the locals call the best weekend of the year!

Cooeee 2014

Well, hello 2014. I see you've been here a while.
Apologies for the absence!
January is a jam packed month of visitors, beach, movies, and weekly markets.
I love it, how about you?

The cinema is a novelty. A bit old school, and I'll see almost anything while it's here!

We loved our week of hot weather. While the city sweltered, we had delicious days on the beach.
The bonus of living on the coast!

Of course, there's new things from my workroom too, and I'm looking forward to the last January market on the Apollo Bay foreshore this coming long weekend.
I expect I'll be continuing to spend more time over on Instagram than here.
So, come on over and join me to get a peek into my day to day!
